Test Your Computer Network

• Unplug your computer, go into the next room with a computer and login as yourself. Is everything on that computer that you need to do your job?  Can it be there in less than 30 minutes? (If NO .... you need an ISC professional to look at your network.) (Your network just failed the most important test.)

 
• Can multiple users share the same documents or spreadsheets? After the manager is done with a letter can  his secretary open it and proofread it at her computer?  Can the Sales Manager check on all his sales staff's proposals from his desk?  (If you answered NO to any of these questions your network just failed the second most important test.)

• Do you have a second printer to print your documents should yours be low on toner or ink? Do you have a laser and color ink jet or color laser printer option? (If you answered NO to any of these questions your network just failed the third most important test.)

 
• Unplug your server. (Pretend, don't really do this.) How many hours will it take for you to be back in operation? (If over 2 hours .... you need an ISC professional to look at your network.)

 
• If your company had a major fire, is there a backup of your system off site that can be in service in less than 3 hours? (If NO .... you need an ISC professional to look at your network.)

 
• If you had a major fire, in less than one week could your entire computer network be back up & running in another building? (If NO ... you need an ISC to help out your business.)
